About AP

EARN COLLEGE CREDITS

By making it through an AP course and scoring successfully on the related AP Exam, you can save on college expenses. Currently more than 90 percent of colleges and universities across the country offer college credit, advanced placement, or both, for qualifying AP Exam scores. These credits can potentially save students and their families thousands of dollars in college tuition, fees and textbook costs, which can transform what once seemed unaffordable into something within reach.

You can see specific colleges’ guidelines on accepting AP scores for credit and placement by searching the AP credit policy database. Here you can see how many credits your AP scores will earn you and which courses you may be able to place out of at your future college.

SKIP INTRODUCTORY CLASSES

If you know what you want to major in at college, taking an AP course related to that major and earning a qualifying score on the AP exam can help you gain advanced placement out of introductory courses. This means that you can possibly place out of crowded required courses, and move directly into upper-level classes where you can focus on work that interests you most.

Even if you take an AP exam unrelated to your major — or if you’re not sure what you want to major in — AP courses can often help you place out of your colleges’ general education requirements. With this additional time on your class schedule, you can pursue a second major or minor, take exciting electives or follow additional interests in new ways.

AP Student Exam Registration

Step 1:

Students will log in to their College Board Account.

  • If the student does not already have a College Board account, they will need to create one.
  • Students must be enrolled in the course through College Board to order their exam.

Step 2:

Students will receive a "join code" from their AP teacher and enroll in their course.  If they need to change their status, they should click on "Change Status" on the "Tile" for their course to decline taking the AP Exam or see Mrs. Lipinski in A52.  This should be done by September 5, 2025.

  • Every course and class period has a different "join code"
  • The student must confirm he/she has enrolled in the proper course and period
  • Students may use their mobile devices to access their account
  • If the student is a transfer student and was previously enrolled in the AP class at another school, they need to ask their AP teacher for their transfer code.
  • If a student has issues accessing their account, please contact College Board at 1-888-225-5427.

Step 3:

Once students have confirmed their order status during the week of September 8, 2025, the exam fees will be placed in their Infinite Campus Parent Portals and parents will receive an email stating that their exam fees are ready to be paid for.  Payments can be processed online using the Parent Portal or in person in the Bookstore.  All AP Exams cost $110.

  • The payment deadline is November 7, 2025.  Once the order is placed, only partial refunds will be offered through the end of February if the exam order is changed.

Making a Payment on Infinite Campus Parent Portal

  1. Log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal

  2. Next, (located at the bottom, left) select “More”

  3. On the right side of the new page select “InTouch Fee Payment”

  4. On the new homescreen if you have not already paid your fees, there should be an "Attention" in red about your fees/fines.

  5. Select view and you will be able to choose which exams you would like to pay for.

If you have questions about how to process your online payment, please contact the Casteel Bookstore.
